Who we are and what we do here at Learning Ready Behaviour Services!
Autism Spectrum Disorder is a developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with and relates to others, and how they understand the world around them.
Autism is indeed a "spectrum", meaning the way the condition presents is different for each individual. Some develop typically and appear to regress, or lose skills and abilities. Others do not demonstrate typical development early on. With others still, it is only when the individual becomes older that problem areas become apparent.
Perhaps behaviours the individual now demonstrates were all typical at one stage of their life. However, other children alongside them continue to develop and grow; and the individual with the diagnosis tends to remain stagnant, with their behaviours becoming increasingly less age-typical. Without intervention, problem areas and skill deficits tend to become more amplified and pervasive over time.
ABA was NOT initially developed to treat Autism; but it is an application of this science that is strongly supported by empirical research as the safest and most effective treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
ABA can be applied to any behaviours and skills, within a wide variety of applications and fields.
Within our ABA programs, we work with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnoses, alternative diagnoses such as Global Developmental Delay, and no diagnoses but areas for behavioural improvement.
Our values drive what we do on a daily basis here at Learning Ready Behaviour Services.
